North Branch Township was Established in 1869

Established in 1869, the North Branch Township in Isanti County, Minnesota occupies 36 square miles with 49.458 miles of road, 1.5 miles of which are asphalt. We have approximately 1,737 residents spread across 669 homes. North Branch Township is located on Minnesota State Highway 95 between the City of Cambridge and the City of North Branch. Fire Service is provided 90% by the City of North Branch Fire Department & the other 10% by the City of Cambridge Fire Departments. Our Engineering Firm is Bolten & Menk, and the Township Engineer is Joseph Pelawa P.E.

• Planning and Zoning Meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. when needed
• Township Board Regular Business Meetings the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m.
  • Agenda items are due to the Township Clerk by 3 p.m. the Monday before the meeting
• Township Elections on the second Tuesday in March
• Township Annual Meeting is the second Tuesday in March at 8 p.m. after the closing of the election polls
• Spring Clean-Up Day is the last Saturday in April at the township hall

OUR HISTORY

North Branch Township vies with Spencer Brook Township for having the earliest settlement in the county. By the time the county was established in 1857, there were already a number of settlers. Among them were the Owens, the Huntleys, and the Henricks. 

The township is named for the north branch of the Sunrise River that flows through it. It was officially organized as a township in 1869. When it became a township, a number of Germans settled in the southern part of the township, in the Weber community. The northern part of the Spring Lake community was settled mostly by Swedish immigrants.

1. Driveway Permit - $1,450 (actual cost)
   Includes 1-15”x40’ CMP culvert with aprons, and swing arm mailbox installed by North Branch Township, the culvert is to be picked up by the permittee at Isanti Co. Hwy. Dept. (232 N. Emerson St., Cambridge, MN 55008) within 24 hour advance notice to the clerk. 
1. If the culvert is not needed fee is $300
2. Township Hall Rental - $150 per day
   No damage deposit is required and no alcohol is allowed on the premises
3. Billable Labor rate - $85 per hour with a two hour minimum
4. Snow plowing - $150 per hour with two hour minimum
5. Road grading - $150 per hour with two hour minimum
6. Sign replacement - 1 hour labor cost of the sign material with 20% markup
